GIBB’s Responsibilities:
The project consisted of a feasibility study and preliminary design of a commuter rail network in Dar es Salaam city and neighbouring districts, towns and suburbs.
The project was split into two components: a rail network within Dar es Salaam city and a rail network to connect to other districts, towns and suburbs. Design options included covering permanent ways, station facilities, maintenance facilities and associated equipment, information communication, train control systems, electrification diesel and other railway equipment requirements.
Required too was optimisation of grade separation at potential intersections with major roads and existing railway lines. GIBB studied social and environmental impacts and provided in-depth analyses of elevated, surface and under-ground routes.
Arusha and Mwanza Airport Master Plan Review and Development

GIBB’s Responsibilities:
GIBB was appointed to review the Master Plan for the Arusha and Mwanza Airports in Tanzania. The project included the review of the development comprising of pavement geometric design, airport terminal design, systems design, airport International Civil Aviation Organization compliance requirements, land use plan, general aviation facility planning and strategic operational plan.

GIBB was appointed to carry out the feasibility study for the Arusha and Mwanza Airports located in Tanzania. This included the environmental and socio impact assessment and preliminary design for re-development both airports.
