Project description 
GIBB, in a joint venture with Stewart Scott and Knight Piesold (Braamhoek Consultants Joint Venture (BCJV)) and supported by a range of international companies, was appointed for a 30-month period for the detailed design (Phase 1) of the Braamhoek Pumped Storage Scheme. The proposed Braamhoek Pumped Storage Scheme is located about 23 km northeast of Van Reenen, within the little Drakensberg mountain range. The distance between the upper and lower reservoirs is in the order of 6 km and the elevation difference is approximately 470 m.

  • Management of an extensive public participation process 
  • Sensitivity assessment and establishment of significance of impacts 
  • Development of mitigation measures
