Project Experience
Operational Support City of Cape Town Integrated Rapid Transit Infrastructure
Client:

GIBB’s Responsibilities:
GIBB was appointed as the lead consultant and project co-ordinator for the City of Cape Town Inner City Integrated Rapid Transit infrastructure.
Responsibilities included planning, design, procurement and implementation of various MyCiti infrastructure. This included bus depots, closed stations, bus stops and road upgrades for bus prioritisation.

GIBB’s Responsibilities:
GIBB’s tasks included: a demand and model analysis; identification of bottlenecks; identification and explanation of the logistics network design process; a logistics audit review; examination of the logistics network alternatives; logistics location analysis, and to develop a logistics spatial plan and economic analysis.

GIBB’s tasks on the project included: transport planning input; plan meetings and record attendance; liaison with authorities; review of relevant studies; policy frameworks; an investigation into alternative access proposals and, a traffic impact assessment report.

GIBB’s Responsibilities:
GIBB was appointed for the operational support for Phase 0, Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Integrated Rapid Transport (IRT) MyCiTy bus service. GIBB, as part of a joint venture, was appointed to assist in the roll-out of operations of the service.
Part of GIBB’s role was to provide overall operational support for the city’s initial and subsequent phases of the IRT system, which was launched during May 2011.

GIBB’s Responsibilities:
GIBB was appointed for the Bus Rapid Transit Link project, which extends from Soweto to Nasrec and the central business district of Johannesburg.
Tasks included planning of public transport operations, design of bus rapid transit infrastructure, design of dedicated bus lanes, traffic engineering, and transport planning for the World Cup Soccer held in 2010.
